You may have seen adverts for laptops featuring something called ‘Intel Evo‘ – but what actually is it?
The easiest way to think of Evo is as a ‘seal of approval’ for meeting a set of guidelines outlined by Intel to make the perfect premium laptop. This includes:
- Longer battery life
- The device should achieve at least 9 hours of battery life on a Full HD screen.
- Instant wake
- The device should wake from sleep in under 1 second.
- Fast charging
- The device’s battery should be able to be recharged to at least 4 hours of battery life in or under 30 minutes.
- WiFi 6 & Thunderbolt 4 connectivity
- The device should have WiFi 6 (802.11ax) & Thunderbolt 4 connectivity.
- 11th Gen Core i5/i7 Tiger Lake
- The processor in the laptop will be at least an 11th generation Intel Core i5/i7.
For us, Intel Evo is a game-changer for any business – especially those who either work from home or spend a lot of time at customer sites.
Yes, there are currently ultrabooks & other premium portables out there that have fast-charge capability or long battery life (i.e. the Macbook Pro) – but it’s a rare & welcome change to have all these features under one roof.

James recently bought the Dell Inspiron 13 7306 2-in-1 & has been testing it for the last week or so.
So far, I’ve really loved using the Inspiron 13 7306!
For a consumer laptop it’s surprisingly good for business usage; it’s fast, versatile & feels especially premium. There’s obviously a few caveats that make it a domestic device, for instance it comes with Windows 10 Home installed as opposed to Pro, but it’s not stopping me from doing my job.
The touchpad is very responsive, with a satisfying smooth feel to the touch; I’ve been able to precisely use Photoshop, After Effects & InDesign without issue.
The 13.3″ Full HD touchscreen display is bright & has amazing colour – the 100% Adobe SRGB is such a bonus for any design work. Plus being a convertible device, I can flip the screen over & work on the touchscreen if I need to move around the house while I’m working.
Battery-wise, I can get a good 6 hours or so of usage while I’ve got multiple Chrome tabs open, Apple Music streaming in the background, Microsoft Office open, as well as Slack & our internal phone system app running.
We think Intel Evo is a very exciting development & look forward to seeing what new Evo devices come to the market this year. If you’d like to know more about the laptops in the article, send us an enquiry today.
